THE LAUNCH PAD
Mono/CGA Hard Disk Menu Program
Copyright(c) 1994 By Eldon Martin
Registration - $7.95
The Launch Pad is a hard disk menu program design to be simple and
easy to use. The Launch Pad is distributed as shareware. If you
use the program for more than 30 days, you are required to register
by sending the registration fee to the author. Registeration covers
all future upgrades, which may be downloaded from BBSs or purchased
from a shareware distributor. When you register, you will recieve
a unique registration number which will entitle you to other
benefits such as better access to my BBS and/or discounts on other
software I have produced.
This program is provided on an "as is" basis. I cannot be held
responsible for any problems it causes you. I have tested it on my
computer, but it is not guaranteed to run on yours.
You may copy this program and distribute it as long as you comply
to the following rules:
■ All files must complete and unmodified.
■ All files must distributed as a unit, with no files taken away. The
files in this package include: LP.EXE, LP.DOC, and CATALOG.EXE.
■ No more than $6.00 may be charged for the program and the disk it is
on.
■ Copies sold on retail shelves must be clearly marked as "shareware"
and have an explanation of the shareware concept on the outside of
the package. The author's name must also appear on the front of the
package.
■ Distributors must use their best efforts to distribute only the most
recent version of the program.
INSTALLING THE LAUNCH PAD
-------------------------
All you have to do to install the program is to place the file
LP.EXE in the root directory (C:\) of your hard drive. When you run
LP.EXE for the first time, it will create a directory named LP_INIT,
where all the configuration files will be placed when the program
creates them. You do not have to worry about about any of the files
in the LP_INIT directory, the Launch Pad will create and delete them
as needed.
OPTIONS WITHIN THE PROGRAM
--------------------------
The Launch Pad is, for the most part, self-explanatory. Here is a
list of the commands available to you:
ESC = Exit Menu/Submenu
F2 = Add an Item (program or sub menu)
F3 = Delete Marked Item
F4 = Change Configuration
THE MEMORY SAVING OPTION
------------------------
Normally, when the Launch Pad runs a program, it remains in
memory. For most applications, this is fine. You may, however, run
across a program that needs all of your systems base memory. In
this case, add a ~ to the start of the program description when you
add it to the menu. This character will not show up on the menu,
but will instruct the Launch Pad to completely unload itself and
use a temporary batch file to run the program. You should use the
memory saving option only when needed, because there are programs
out there that do run properly from batch files. It is a good idea
to add a new program without the memory saving option and try it
that way. If it does not run properly, then you can delete the menu
item and add it again with the ~ as the first character of the
description.
USING THE MOUSE
---------------
The Launch Pad is designed to support the mouse. The first time
the program is run, it will check to see if you have a mouse and
write the configuration file accordingly. If the mouse doesn't seem
to work, check the configuration (press F4), and make sure the mouse
is set to on. Using the mouse with the Launch Pad is simple. Do
keep in mind that the left button means the same as the [ENTER] key,
and the right button means [ESC]. You can perform all of the
menu operations with the mouse except the function key commands and
typing in program/submenu descriptions.
COLOR OPTION
------------
When the Launch Pad first runs, it will use the black and white
mode. If you have a color monitor, just press [F4] for
configuration and change the color setting.
